“Dirt Relations” delves into the intertwined narratives of three visionary individuals: Patrick Lucas, Thomas Schoen, and Tom Eustache. Hailing from diverse backgrounds, these men forged an unlikely friendship that culminated in creating the Indigenous Youth Mountain Bike Program. Through their shared passion for outdoor adventure and commitment to reconciliation, they have emerged as trailblazers in bridging the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
At its core, the Indigenous Youth Mountain Bike Program is a testament to the power of collaboration and community empowerment. As a non-profit organization, it strives to support First Nations communities in western Canada by developing world-class nature trails that promote outdoor recreation and healthy living. Over the past decade, the program has made significant strides, working with numerous Nations, training hundreds of youth in trail building and mountain biking, and constructing over 100 kilometers of trails.
As “Dirt Relations” makes its debut, it serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative impact that grassroots initiatives can have on society. Through the lens of mountain biking, this documentary showcases the resilience, innovation, and leadership of Indigenous peoples in shaping the future of outdoor recreation. By celebrating their achievements and highlighting their contributions, “Dirt Relations” invites audiences to embark on a journey of discovery, inspiration, and reconciliation.
